Minimum Qualifications for Adjunct Faculty at 石榴视频

Adjuncts may apply to teach in more than one discipline and in more than one Academic School at 石榴视频. Most adjunct positions require a master鈥檚 degree in the discipline or a related discipline. The minimum qualifications required to teach specific program courses within each Academic School are listed below, and as a downloadable PDF.

Please note: In many disciplines, a master鈥檚 degree in education may be considered a 鈥渞elated field.鈥 Please contact the appropriate Academic School Dean to confirm. 

Minimum Adjunct Faculty Qualifications by Academic School

  • Digital Media Marketing: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in discipline and relevant work experience
  • Fashion Design: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in discipline or related field AND experience in illustration, construction, and production
  • Fine Arts: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in discipline and relevant work experience
  • Game Art: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in discipline and relevant work experience
  • Graphic Design: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in discipline and relevant work experience
  • Illustration: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in discipline and relevant work experience
  • Motion Media: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in discipline and relevant work experience
  • Photography: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in discipline and relevant work experience
  • Technical Theater: Bachelor鈥檚 degree and relevant experience; master鈥檚 degree preferred
  • Theater: Master鈥檚 degree in related field
  • Video Production: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in discipline and relevant work experience
  • Business: Master's degree in discipline OR master's degree in related field AND relevant work experience
  • Hospitality: Bachelor's degree in discipline OR associate degree with five years of relevant experience
  • Sports Management: Master鈥檚 degree in discipline OR master鈥檚 degree in related field AND relevant work experience
  • Workplace Success: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in other discipline and relevant experience in discipline
  • HIT: Bachelor鈥檚 degree required, RHIA/RHIT credentials (Registered Health Information Administrator/Technician), and experience in Health Information Management field required
  • Nursing: Master's degree in discipline, license in discipline, relevant work experience
  • Radiation Technology Clinical: Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred AND three years clinical experience in professional discipline, current CPR certification, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists current registration in radiography or equivalent (i.e., unrestricted state license for the state in which the program is located), and member of the American Association of Radiologic Care
  • Radiation Technology Lecture: Bachelor's degree in discipline or closely related discipline, two years clinical experience in professional discipline, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists current registration in radiography or equivalent (i.e., unrestricted state license for the state in which the program is located)
  • Respiratory Care Clinical: Associate degree in discipline required; bachelor鈥檚 degree preferred AND license in discipline with two years relevant work experience.
  • Respiratory Care Lecture: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in discipline AND license in discipline with two years relevant work experience
  • Physical Education 鈥 Sports Medicine: Bachelor's degree in related discipline and relevant experience
  • Surgical Technology: Credential in the surgical technology field from a nationally recognized and accredited credentialing agency AND within the last five years a minimum of three years of operating room experience or teaching in the field, or a combination of the two
  • CF100 (College Foundations Seminar): Bachelor's degree in related discipline; master's degree preferred
  • Composition: Master's degree in related field AND bachelor鈥檚 degree in English, rhetoric, composition OR master鈥檚 degree in related field AND bachelor鈥檚 degree in related field with at least 30 credits in English
  • Critical Thinking/Reading: Master鈥檚 degree in related field
  • ESOL: Master's degree in related field and bachelor's degree in discipline OR master's degree in discipline and bachelor's degree in related field
  • Film Appreciation, Music Appreciation, Art Appreciation, and Art History: Master's degree in related field 
  • Foreign Language: Master's degree in related field and bachelor's degree in discipline or equivalent experience (extended residence in country, for example)
  • History: Master's degree in related field AND bachelor's degree in history, OR master's degree in related field AND bachelor's degree in related field with at least 30 credits in history
  • Journalism: Bachelor's degree in related discipline AND experience in discipline
  • Literature: Master's degree in related field AND bachelor's degree in English OR master's degree in related field AND bachelor's degree in related field with at least 30 credits in English
  • Philosophy and Ethics: Master's degree in related field
  • Sign Language: Associate degree with certificate in discipline required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Speech: Master's degree in related field AND bachelor's degree in English, communications, composition and rhetoric, or theater
  • Education: Master's degree in discipline, active NYS teacher certification and three years classroom teaching experience
  • Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic: Bachelor鈥檚 degree in related field, current NYS Paramedic or National Registry Certification, current NYS certified Instructor Coordinator Certification with clearance to teach at paramedic level, Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor
  • Physical Education 鈥 Athletics: Associate degree, relevant experience required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Physical Education 鈥 Coaching Certificate: Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline AND relevant experience
  • Physical Education 鈥 Education Majors: Master's degree in related discipline, NYS teacher certification in subject area AND three years classroom teaching experience

  • Psychology & Human Service: Master's degree or higher in psychology, social work (MSW), school counseling (CAS), or school psychology and/or NYS licensure (Licensed Master of Social Work 鈥 LMSW), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, creative arts therapy, psychoanalysis
  • Social Sciences 鈥 Anthropology: Master's degree in discipline or related field AND bachelor's degree in related field
